Relevant industry qualifications must be obtained and kept current.

Importantly, in-house training and regular in-servicing ensures the Team follow Westside Swimming's unique program to the high standards demanded.

Management Team

Ross Gage

Westside Swimming's philosophy and systems have been largely developed by Ross Gage over the past twenty years. Ross is also the Director of Swim Australia (Australia's Swim School Development program) and a Board member of the Australian Swim Coaches & Teachers Association (ASCTA) for over 20 years. He is currently ASCTA Representative to the Australian Water Safety Council.

Ross has been involved in numerous learn-to-swim publications and has lectured around Australia as well as the USA, New Zealand, Taiwan and England. The work in the industry extends to Teacher Accreditation organisations.

The following Awards have been bestowed upon him by his peers.

  • Meritorious Service to the Teaching of Swimming in Australia, 1997
  • Outstanding Contribution to Swimming in Queensland, 1989
  • Outstanding Contribution to teaching of swimming in Australia, 2005

Therese Gage

The Program has been written by and is overseen by Therese Gage.

Therese has taught in the education system for eleven years and taught, supervised, managed and developed Westside Swimming's programs for over 20 years.

Her love of children and belief in the many benefits of the life skill of swimming are evident in the wonderful program she has crafted.
